100 days. 100 writers. 100 stories. 1 amazing project.

100 days. 100 writers. 100 stories. 1 amazing project.

For the past 16 months I have been involved in an incredible project with 100 other writers to commemorate 100 lives of the First World War. As the project draws to a close I wanted to reflect on the impact it has had on me.

I wrote something...

Today a woman went to work and did her job. This evening she will not go home to her husband and kids because a man who allegedly did not like her politics shot and stabbed her. I didn't know what else to do but write something.

When lists go bad

This time last year I had the genius idea of creating a list of things I wanted to achieve in my 39th year. Loads of other people had done similar things and it seemed ripe with possibility. What could possibly go wrong?

One week down, and I've made reasonably good progress with The List. This post is for those of you who were interested to see the final set of books that were recommended to me by friends. I intend to plough my way through as many as possible over the next year to try and hit 39 in total.

I've decided to have my mid-life crisis a year early and do a bunch of slightly random, sometimes crazy, things to mark my 39th yeardom.

Best bits of 2014

Although unsure where the past 12 months have gone, it seems it's that time of year again where I have a little think about my favourite literary moments of the year and share them with you.

Welcome to The Great Puzzle

My name is Lisa Davison. It's also Lisa Andrews - because we are never just one thing at one time, and I'm terrible with choice. I've been a journalist and editor for the past 20 years, writing features on everything from how to be the perfect tamagotchi parent - Remember them? No? You missed out - to how an energy company steered a course through the banking crisis.

I was also an entertainment and film journo for Heat magazine and popcorn.co.uk. My expert knowledge on celebrity sex lives is so last century, but I do still hold the dubious distinction of being the only person to write anything positive enough about Battlefield Earth for it to end up on the DVD cover.*

In 2016, I set up the digital literary and arts magazine all the sins with my co-editor Sinéad Keegan.

The Great Puzzle started out as a place for me to waffle on about reading, writing and my unhealthy fascination with paper. Now, it's starting to become a place where I waffle on about, well, anything, really. I can't promise that the weird posts about my obsession with paper will stop, though. You can find out more about what I do on the cunningly-titled About page. Thanks for falling down the rabbit hole with me...
